  Charles E. Whitington of Fairmount, Illinois, age 76, died Friday afternoon, January 28, at his home. He was born at Danville, Illinois, May 23, 1906, the son of John and Lela Mouer Whitington. September 30, 1939, he married Ella R. Collins, who survives. He retired in 1965 after 42 years with the Chicago and eastern Illinois Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Retired Railroad Employees.

  Also surviving are five sons, Russell of Mattoon, Illinois, Gary of Muscatine, Iowa, Terry of Covington, Daniel of Oakwood, Illinois, and James at home; a daughter, Naomi Feezor of Gary; a stepdaughter, Barbara Shank of Samson, Alabama; a stepson, John Collins of Danville, Illinois; a sister, Doris Wantland of Chicago; 23 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Carrington Funeral Home in Fairmount with Rev. Kenneth Merrick officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. – thanks to s
