WEST POINT—Mrs. Lulu O. Whitehead, 82, a resident of this community since 1937, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at her home. She had been in failing health two years. She was a daughter of John W. and Louisa Mitchell Oliver and was born Feb. 22, 1884 at Wingate. Her father was a Christian minister. She married Herbert C. Whitehead, a Spanish-American War veteran, Jan. 11, 1903. He died June 4, 1951. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the West Point Methodist Church and Wingate OES No. 336 and a 50-year member of Wea Plains Wednesday Club. Survivors include four sons, Charles, with whom she lived, Herbert Morris of Crawfordsville and John Robert and Royce O. of New Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Helen W. Meharry of New Richmond and Mrs. Mabel W. Kiefer of Lafayette, and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Eikenberry Funeral Home in Lafayette. Services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the West Point Methodist Church, where the body will lie in state for an hour beginning at 1 o'clock. Rev. Richard Bowman will officiate, and burial will be in West Point Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
