Dr. Jesse Hayes White, 91-year-old retired University of Pittsburgh professor and a native of Alamo, died Saturday night at his home, 414 N. Park Ave. in Bloomington. He was a son of John Marshall and Irene B. White and was a 1903 graduate of Indiana University. He taught in the Waveland school in 1896-99. In 1930-34 he was president of James Millikin University at Decatur, Ill. He was a professor of psychology and education at Pittsburgh and director of research in personality at that university. Dr. White was listed in Who’s Who in America in 1932-33. Survivors include his wife, Olive; three daughters, Dr. Winifred White of Hollister, Mo., Mrs. William Doolittle of Louisville and Mrs. John White of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. S. W. Shiley of Birmingham, Ala.; eight grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greene-Harrell Funeral Home in Bloomington, with Rev. Emory Parks officiating and graveside rites at 1:30 p.m. in the Windsor, Ind. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
