WHITE, Anna Grannon

Anna Mae WHITE, wife of  Parke White of Waveland, and mother of Delbert J. White of Kingman and Bernard M. White of Chicago died at her home Sunday morning about 7:00 of an illness that had been a handicap but not a hindrance to her determined spirit of a number of years. Mrs. White was a woman of strong personality and unusual will power and a Bible student of more than ordinary ability.  She taught the Women’s Bible Class in the Methodist Sunday School for a number of years and held to the Methodist faith to the end.  She was born March 31, 1878 the d/o James and Martha GRANNON of Tippecanoe County and was educated in the public schools and the Lafayette Academy from which she taught school until her marriage to Mr. White which took place July 4, 1897.  Soon after, the Whites settled in the Waveland community where there were born to them four sons, two of whom preceded her in death: Wallace Floyd White who died 25 years ago and Maxwell P. White who died a little over five years ago.  Mrs. White was a member of Linden Order of Eastern Star Lodge and Waveland Methodist Church. There survive her going her husband and two sons, Delbert of Kingman and Bernard of Chicago.  The funeral was conducted at the Machledt Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon in charge of her pastor, Rev. Claude McCallister.  The sermon was preached by the Rev. CN McBrayer – kbz
