VEEDERSBURG - Mrs. Rachel Adline Whitaker, age 89, of Veedersburg, died at noon Thursday, June 4, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been ill several years.
Mrs. Whitaker was born Aug. 22, 1880, in Fountain County, the daughter of Charles and Roxanna Dowden Barr. She was married in 1898 to Charles Edward Whitaker, who died Oct. 17, 1950. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church.
Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Lola Jones and Mrs. Ruby Bunnell, both of Portland Arch and Mrs. Marjorie Froedge of Covington; six sons, Russell of South Bend, Mahlon of Danville, Andrew of Covington, James of Cambridge, William of Logansport and Alden of Indianapolis; 31 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. Lewis Brock officiated and burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg.
