HILLSBORO -- Ora A. Whitaker, 77, retired farmer, died at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville at 10:30 p.m. Friday. Although he had entered the hospital only a few hours earlier, he had been in declining health for the past year and seriously ill for several weeks. Whitaker had been a farmer in Fountain and Montgomery counties until he retired and moved to Hillsboro 13 years ago. Born Feb. 17, 1887, in Fountain County, he was the son of Aarron B. and Sarah Elizabeth Osborn Whitaker. He was married July 24, 1905, to Ossie Swank in Danville, Ill. Survivors include the wife; three sons, Lawson Whitaker of Detroit, Herman Whitaker of Waynetown and Bill Whitaker of Zionsville; two daughters, Gertrude Mattingly and Edith McDonald, both of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Brown of Ferndale, Wash., and a brother, John Whitaker of Auburn, Wash. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Pauline Whitaker and Mrs. Mary Alice Ratcliff. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday.   --typed by Walt W

HILLSBORO — Funeral services for Ora A. Whitaker, age 77, Hillsboro who died Friday night, Dec. 25, at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville, were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Guy Tremaine, officiated and burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Whitaker was born Feb. 17, 1887 in Fountain County, the son of Aaron and Sarah Elizabeth Osborn Whitaker. He was, married July 24, 1905, in Danville to Ossie Swank, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: three sons, Lawson i of Detroit, Herman of Waynetown, and Bill of Zionsville: two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Mattingly and Mrs. Edith McDonald of Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Brown of Ferndale, Wash., and one brother, John Whitaker of Auburn, Wash.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Pauline Whitaker and Mary Alice Ratcliff.
