MELLOTT — Frances Hovermale Whitaker, 79, Mellott, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2000 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. She was born May 4, 1921 in Fountain County, the daughter of Osborn and Esther Holden Payton. She married Paul Hovermale May 4, 1942. He preceded in death Feb. 25, 1977. She married Willis Whitaker June 29, 1993. He survives. She worked for 17 years at Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, as head of housekeeping, where she retired in 1992. Survivors, besides the husband, include: two daughters, Nancy (Gerry) Riley, Carmel, N.Y.; Lucy (David) Mitchell, Newtown; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. – jlr
