Donald Stair Whicker, 74 of Lafayette died at 11:27 p.m. Monday Oct 11, 1999 in Home Hospital.  Mr. Whicker had been an accountant for Peerless Wire and later a salesman for Montgomery Ward and Col. John Anderson Furniture Store.  Born in Lafayette on March 28, 1925 he lived in Lafayette most of his life and was a graduate of Fowler HS.  He married Dorothy M. Nail Brand on Dec 31, 1972 in Lafayette.  She survives.  He served in the US Navy during WWII.  Also surviving are: Susan (Ernest) Remsley of Camden and Donna (Paul) Marvel of Evansville; two stepsons, Larry Grand of Rockville and Roland Brand of Lafayette; one brother, William Whicker of Ft. Wayne; and five grandchildren.  He was preceded by a brother.  Visitation was Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home.  Service there on Thursday with Rev. Greg Hackett officiating. Interment in Rest Haven Memorial Park with VFW Military Rites. – kbz
