  Clarence A. Whalen Jr. of RR 1, Rockville, age 54, died Monday morning, August 8, in Union Hospital at Terre Haute. He was a tool and die maker for Mid-States Steel in Crawfordsville.

  Survivors include the widow, Kathryn; five daughters, Evelyn Harris of Paris, Illinois, Barbara Hankins of Veedersburg, Danita Whalen and Debra Sexton, both of Rockville, and Diane Logsdon of Lafayette; four sons, Clarence III of Greencastle, Robert and John, both of Rockville, and Larry of Nokomis, Florida; his father of Rockville; a sister, Blanche Reyna of Gary; 18 grandchildren and several half brothers and half sisters.

  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bedino Chapel of the Valley in West Terre Haute. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) and from 9 a.m. until time for the service Thursday.
