Martha Belle Wendall, 90, formerly of Hillsboro, died Friday April 29, 1994 at 6:20 p.m. in the Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. She was born in Richland Twp, Fountain County, Indiana on Oct 8, 1902. She was the daughter of Ralph & Nellie Shultz Royal. She had lived for many years in Hillsboro and later lived in Attica and more recently in Williamsport. She had been a resident of the nursing center the past 3 years. She was a 1923 graduate of Mellott HS. She was self employed as a seamstress and later worked in Ben Franklin Store in Attica. She was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church. She was also a member of the Attica Chapter #125 OES, Williamsport Sr Citizens and enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She first married WA Wiggins Sept 6, 1924 in Lafayette. She later married Orville Wendall in 1953 at Rockville and he precededher in death in Sept 1964. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ira (Martha) VanHook, Rt 2, Williamsport; two half sisters Mrs. Mary Louise Wilson, Speedway and Mrs. Claradeen Farren, Tacoma, WA; 2 grandchildren, Jane Jernagan and John VanHook; 4 great grandchildren, Jon Ann and Damon VanHook and Sean and Jared Jernagan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clinton Royal and half brother, Bill Royal. Services were held at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro on Tuesday, May 3, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Margaret Wooten and Rev. Don Williams officiated. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends were received at the funeral home Monday May 2, 1994 5-9 p.m. with OES memorial services held on Monday at 8.
