WELCH, William Walter

William Walter Welch of Winamac, Florida, formerly of Covington, age 77, died March 11 in Pulaski Memorial Hospital at Winamac. He was born in Fountain County, March 3, 1906, the son of Victor and Rebecca Huffer Welch. In 1931, he married Lucille Jordan, who died in 1970. In 1972, he married Dorothy Stark Stevenson, who survives.

  Welch graduated from Covington High School and Wabash College and had a master’s degree from Indiana University. He was a teacher and school principal for over 41 years. He was a member of Winamac United Methodist Church and Order of eastern Star, Covington Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Shrine and National Retired Teachers Association.

 Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Elliott of Greensburg and Marsha Halt of Elkhart; a stepdaughter, Cheryl O’Donnell of Logansport; and two sisters, Lucille Hatton of Covington and Helen Painter of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
  Funeral services were held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. -s
