Covington - Mrs. Gertrude M. Watts, 76, of Covington died at 8:45 p.m. Monday Jan 20, 1975 in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill where she had been a patient one day. She had been in ill health for several years. A long time resident of Covington, she was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Jolly Sixties Sunday School Class. Born August 15, 1898 in Warren County, she was a daughter of Harlan C. and Martha W. Crone Shumaker. She married Henry Everett Watts Oct 14, 1935. He died April 21, 1967. Surviving are two sons, Robert Truex of Danville, Ill and Charles Watts of Covington; a daughter Mrs. Kay Stewart of Rt 2, Covington; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Grimes of Covington; three brothers, Luther and Herbert Shumaker of Covington and Roy Roberts Kirks of Clear Lake, Calif and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Smith officiating. Burial will bein Mt. Hope Cemetery.
