Her neck broken when she was hurled from the car in which she was riding, Mrs. Edith Watts, 53, housekeeper for Reuben H. Wilson, living on RR 1, Attica, died instantly in a head-on automobile crash on state road 28, near Jackson Heights Church, early yesterday afternoon., Her body was brought to the Soller-Baker funeral home, this city, and Wilson, with whom she was riding was brought to St. Elizabeth hospital suffering with injuries. He escaped with cuts and bruises and an injured right knee cap. Mrs. Watts also sustained a broken right arm and cuts. The second car was driven by James Burghardt, 16, Romney HS student, who lives with his mother 4 ½ miles southwest of Romney. Mrs. Watts was ill and was being taken by Wilson to the home of her half-brother, Lon Dunbar, at Linden. The accident occurred along the Floyd Byers farm. Mrs. Watts had been housekeeper for Wilson for three years. Coroner H.E. Klepinger and Sheriff J. Ralph Fisher made a preliminary inquiry and the coroner ordered the Burghardt youth to report to him Saturday for further investigation.  Born at Kingman, Mrs. Watts was a daughter of William and Dora Dunbar. Besides the half-brother at Linden, she is survived by an adopted daughter, living at East St. Louis, Ill; a brother, Elmer Dunbar, Danville, Ill; and three half sisters, Mrs. May Brown, Hedrick; Mrs. Miranda Spenus, Danville, Ill and Mrs. Mandy Morrow, Chicago. - kbz
