WATTENBARGER, Golden J - WW I

Golden J. Wattenbarger, 63 of Hillsboro died at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis about 3:30 p.m. Sunday after entering the hospital on Sunday.  He was the son of Charles and Texas Ann Mayfield Wattenbarger and was born in Sullivan County, Ind Dec 27, 1896.  On Dec 3, 1946 he was married to Margaret Mayfield and all of their married life had been spent in the vicinity of Hillsboro. He was employed by the Nickle Plate Railroad Company for 32 years and retired in 1948.  He served in World War I, was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Sterling and was a member of Memorial Post American Legion of Hillsboro.  The survivors are the widow; one son Daryl at home; a stepson Harold Reutebuch of Granit City, Ill; three grandchildren.  Funeral service was held at Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Guy Walters of Kitchell Ind officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with a military service conducted by the Hillsboro Legion. – kbz
