Russell E. Watt, 73, a former resident of Covington Route 1, died at 5 p.m. yesterday (6 July 1968) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Moreman of 1525 Meitzler, with whom he had made his home. He a d been in ill health three years. He had lived most of his life in the Danville area. He had formerly operated the Watt Transfer Co., now the Baker Transfer and Storage Co., retiring in 1945. Born Aug. 14, 1894, in Newton, Ill., he was a son of Wilbur and Luti Phillips Watt. He was married in 1914 to Edna Ruth King, who preceded him in death in 1943. He was married to Helen Baker, who preceded him in death in 1964. Surviving besides the daughter are a son, Robert E. Watt of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and a brother, Merle Watt of Inverness, Fla. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a daughter. His hobbies were horses and fishing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, The Rev. Raymond Silver of the Georgetown Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Atherton, Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7-9 tonight. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society. -- jlr
