WASSON, Manford

Source: Kingman Star Friday, September 4 1908

MANFORD HOWARD, SON OF MONROE L. AND NANCY J. WASSON, was born near Bellmore, Parke county, Indiana,  May 20 1858, where he lived until 1891, when he moved to Fountain county, Indiana, where he departed this life August 18 1908, aged 50 years  2 months and 58 days.

In October 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary F. Blacketer.   This union was blessed with one daughter, Julia Wasson Bellus, who departed this life August 17 1906.  Mr. Wasson and wife joined the Freedom Christian church, near their home.  His many friends can testify that he held an unswerving faith in his Savior, and on many occasions expressed himself as believing in His saving Grace.   His  rule and guide in life was to do the best he could, and he trusted God would make all right in the end.

It is not enough to say that he was a kind, loving husband.  He was indeed the best friend of his only grandson, Charles.   His pride and interest was in his home.  Not a domestic jar ever came to mar his happiness.  Well may it be said, never man found a more loving and helpful woman than his wife, who mourns her loss.  A short time before his death, he said to his wife I can not last long, but will be better off, don’t worry about me and do the best you can.  Besides his wife and grandson, he leaves his father and three sisters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn for him.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church, near Wallace, Ind., Rev. Carney preached the funeral, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery.  -s-
