Veedersburg - Wayne T. Washburn, 71 of Rt 4 Veedersburg, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday (Jan 25) in Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was a member of Osborne Prairie Christian Church, an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Fulton-Banta American Legion Post 291, a member of Fountain-Warren County Farm Bureau and had served on the Fountain County Draft Board for 20 years, serving as its president. He had been employed as a mechanic at the Chevrolet-Buick Garage at Covington, retiring in 1972. Born Nov 3, 1907 at Tuscola, Illinois, he was a son of Edward and Clara Tilford Washburn. He was married August 20, 1940 to Pauline Houts who survives. Also surviving are a nephew and nieces, James E. Washburn and Jo Beth Hough, both of Zionsville; a cousin, Maycile Shockley of Lebanon and a great niece and great nephew. Services will be at 2p.m. Sunday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington with Revs. Robert Karn and Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. ---kbz

Wayne T. Washburn, 71, of Route 4, Veedersburg, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 1979 at Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill.
He was born on November 3, 1907 in Tuscola, Ill., the son of Edward and Clara Tilford Washburn.
He was married August 20, 1940, to Pauline Houts, who survives.
Other survivors include a nephew, James E. Washburn; a niece, JoBeth Hough, both of Zionsville; a great-niece and a great-Nephew; and a cousin, Maycile Shockley of Lebanon.
He was preceded by his parents and one brother, Ward Washburn.
Mr. Washburn was a member of Osborn Prairie Christian Church. He was a veteran of the Army of World War II and a member of Fulton Banta American Legion Post #291 of Covington. He was a member of Fountain and Warren County Farm Bureau. He was past president of the Fountain County draft board, where he was a member 20 years.
He was a mechanic and worked for the Chevrolet and Buick Garage in Covington for several years, retiring in 1972.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the DeVerter Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Robert Karn and the Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial was in Osborn Prairie Cemetery. -S
