NEWTOWN—Mrs. Pearl Foster Washburn, 76, who taught home economics in the Newtown Schools in 1913-20, died Tuesday morning in Home Hospital at Lafayette. where she had been a patient the past week. She was born April 8, 1884, near Otterbein. She married Jesse Washburn of Newtown March 20, 1920. He preceded her in death March 6, 1941. Mrs. Washburn was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College. She lived on a farm near here after her marriage and in 1933 they moved to a farm near Stockwell. Since Mr. Washburn's death she lived with a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Victor of Brookston. Other survivors include two half-sisters living at Norman, Okla., and a grandson. A son is deceased. Friends may call beginning Wednesday afternoon at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Stockwell, where funeral services are announced for 10 a.m. Thursday. Graveside rites will follow in the Newtown Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W

NEWTOWN — Pearl Washburn, 76, a former Newtown resident, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning in Home Hospital in Lafayette, where she had been a patient for the past week. She lived at Brookston, Ind. The daughter of John L. and Mary Anne Foster, she was born in Warren County April 8, 1884. She was married to Jesse H. Washburn March 3, 1918 in Newtown. He died in March, 1943. She was a teacher at Williamsport, West Lebanon, Newtown and Stockwell and also several small country schools. She was a graduate of Attica High School and Danville Central Normal College and attended Ball State Teachers College. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Brookston. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Robert Victor, of Brookston; one brother, John W. Foster of Normal, Okla.: one half sister, Mary Belle Foster of Shawnee, Okla.; several nieces and nephews: and one grandchild, Daniel Richard Victor of Brookston. She resided in the Newtown area until 1934 when she moved to Stockwell. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Stockwell. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Donald Bowman will officiate at the services and burial will be in Newtown Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
