James K. Washburn, prominent timber buyer died at 8:15 o'clock Monday night following an illness of several months with organic heart trouble. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Simpson, three miles east of the city. Mr. Washburn was born on May 20, 1845, in Fountain County, the son of Uriah and Eliza Washburn in December 1870, he was married to Clara Basham. The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church at Hillsboro. He had been a timber buyer for many years and was well known among timber men of several states. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Simpson, four sons: John ad Luther Washburn of this city; William of Indianapolis and Jesse of Carry, Pa, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the home of his son, John Washburn, 509 South Mill Street, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be made at Oak Hill. - kbz
