Grant W. Ward, 81, a Crawfordsville resident 30 years, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. WD Fline, 220 West Main Street. Born in Huntington County near Warren Oct 14, 1867, he was the son of Armsted and Phoebe Ward. He married Miss Mary E., Rosenbarger at Veedersburg in October 1896. He owned a handle factory at Veedersburg for several years, then traveled for a Chicago packing company for 30 years before founding the Kash & Karry Grocery on East Main Street in 1925, which he had for 20 years. A resident of the Crawford Hotel for 10 years. Mr. Ward was a member of the First Christian Church, UCT, Elks and K of P.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Russell M. Horner, both of Crawfordsville, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was the last surviving member of his family, four brothers, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Evans of Covington and his wife having preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at Bright Funeral Home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul E. Million in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
