Crawfordsville – Forrest A. Ward, 64, retired ice cream manufacturer, died yesterday of a heart attac in downtown Crawfordsville. A native of Covington, Mr. Ward had owned the War Ice Cream Co here several years. In 1941 he helped organize the Hy-Grade Dairy. He was a veteran of WWI, a past commander of the Crawfordsville American Legion and charter member of the Kiwanis Lodge here. Surviving are the widow, Ursula; a son, Daniel of New York and a daughter, Emma Kolbek of Libertville, Ill. Services will be held at 2:30 pm. Tomorrow in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery

Forrest A. Ward, age 64, resident of 211 W. Pike Street, Crawfordsville, a native and former resident of Fountain County, died of a heart attack at 4:15 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, June 25, in downtown Crawfordsville. He was born near Covington, June 10, 1893, the son of Charles Bertram and Lizzie Briney Ward. He was married in Crawfordsville Jan. 18, 1926, to Ursula Caster. He served 18 months with the armed forces in World War I. He was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, of Byron Cox Post of American Legion and the Kiwanis Club of Crawfordsville. After his discharge from the service he was employed with the H. & D. Shock Absorber Co., moving to Crawfordsville in 1921. A year later he entered the ice cream business as a partner in the Wray & Ward Ice Cream Co.; later forming the Ward Ice Cream Co. He helped to organize the Hy-Grade Dairy Co., which he sold to the Sealtest firm in 1941 when he retired from business. Mr. Ward is survived by his wife; one son, Daniel B. Ward, and daughter-in-law, Sue, of Ithaca, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Emma Kolpek, and son-in-law, Robert Kolpek of Libertyville, Ill., and one grandson, Jeffrey James Kolpek. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, June 27, at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. The Rev. Paul Million officiated and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
