ATTICA — Flavius “Flip” Warbritton Jr., 77, 707 North St., Attica, died at 1:49 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a resident since Thursday. Born June 26, 1921 in Attica, he was the son of Flavius and Mary Ann Fink Warbritton Sr. He first married Genevieve E. Davis Sept. 28, 1940 in Attica. She preceded him in death June 23, 1980. In 1987 he married Gail Rhodes in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a life resident of Attica. He was a 1937 graduate of Attica High School. He was employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica, retiring after 35 years. He formerly owned and operated Flip's Taxi Service in Attica for several years. He later was a green thumb employee, assigned to MAC Van Transportation, division of Community Action. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Air Force. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 3318 of Attica, member of the American Legion Post 11 of Lafayette, Eagles Lodge 2596 and Moose Lodge, both of Attica. Survivors include: son, James David (Mary) Warbritton, Dayton; daughters, Debra Faye (Steve) Nicholas, Virginia Beach, Va., Carol Sue (Jack) Rampy, Madison; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by son, Jerry; sisters, Ruby Brown and Irene Ward; and brother, Clyde Warbritton. Following cremation, a gravesite memorial service with military services will be at Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with the Rev. Marcos Gilmore officiating. Maus Funeral Home, Attica, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. – jlr

Surviving, are: a son, James David (Mary) Warbritton of Dayton; two daughters, Debra Faye (CWO-3 Steve) Nicholas of Virginia Beach, Va, and Carol Sue (Jack) Rampy of Madison; six grandchildren, Jackie Armstrong, Jeff Rampy, Deanna Bush, Paul Bush, Crystal Marsh and Jessica Warbritton; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry; two sisters, Ruby Brown and Irene Ward; and a brother, Clyde Warbritton. Visitation were received on Wednesday at Maus Funeral Home. Following cremation, a gravesite memorial service with military services will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with Rev. Marcos Gilmore officiating.
