ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) – Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at the Dale Maus Funeral Home for Hugh O. Wantland, 79, of 331 W. Blackburn, Paris, who died Wednesday morning (April 19, 1972) at the Community Hospital in Paris. The Rev. Harry C. Randolph will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday. Born in Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 7, 1893, he was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Elenor Erwin Wantland. He had been a resident of Paris for the past seven months. However, he had formerly resided in Hatfield and in Attica most of his early life. He was first married to Rae Mathers, who preceded him in death. He was married Aug. 10, 1967, in Attica to Frances Murray, who survives. He was a foreman at Inland Steel in Hammond, retiring 14 years ago. He was formerly employed at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. He was a veteran of World War I serving in the Army. Other survivors include two sons, Hugh Jr. of East Chicago and Dean J. of Hammond; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Kelnhofer of Crown Point; a brother, Sy of Foley, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Hughes of Newtown, Mrs. Edith Brubaker of Hoopeston and Mrs. Laura Flynn of Lafayette, 12 grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.   -– jlr
