COVINGTON – Oscar H. Walters, age 60, of Danville, Ill., Rt. 5, died at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient since Aug. 1. He had been ill for two years. He was the brother of William Walters of Covington and Everett Walters of Veedersburg. Mr. Walters was born Sept. 28, 1907, in French Lick, Ind., the son of James and Lizzie Thurston Walters. He married Thelma Parrish on March 8, 1930 in Danville. He lived in Hume from 1910 until moving to Danville in 1937. He was a farmer in early life and later joined the operating Engineers Local 841 and was employed in construction until last November. He was a member of the Christian Church. He is survived by: his wife; two sons, Paul F. of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Robert L. of Tinley Park, Ill.; one daughter, Bonnie Fern Walters, at home; three brothers, James of Newman, Ill., William of Covington, and Everett of Veedersburg; one sister, Mrs. Harvey McKee of Catlin, Ill., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Edmund-Jones-Sullivan Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Herbert D. Smith officiated and burial was in Davis Cemetery at Fairmount, Ill. -– jlr
