COVINGTON, Ind.-- James N. Walters, 82, a resident of Covington since 1939, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday (Jan. 1, 1968) at the Vermilion Nursing Home, Danville, where he had been a patient four weeks. He had been seriously ill a week. He moved to Covington from Sidell, Ill. He had resided at Danville Care three years. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Walters was born Aug. 22, 1885, the son of Benjamin and Mary Snipes Walters at French Lick, Ind. He was married to Lizzie Thirston, who preceded him in death in 1939. He later married Maude Coffman, who died in 1965. Mr. Walters is survived by four sons, Hayes of Danville, James E. of Newman, William of Covington and Everett of Veedersburg; a stepson, William Coffman, Danville; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia McKee of Catlin, Ill.; a brother, Luther of Gilman, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Simmons, South Bend, and Mrs. Annie Rodgers, Muncie, Ind.; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph; five brothers, a sister and two grandchildren. The body is at the Hegg Funeral Home where friends will be received after noon today. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Glenn Ray will officiate and burial will be in Davis Cemetery at Fairmount, Ill. --typed by Walt W
