VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) – John Clifford Walter, 70, a resident of Veedersburg Route 1, since 1956 died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 9, 1970) at Tall Trees Nursing Home, where he had been a patient one month. Born Feb. 19, 1900, in Wabash Township, he was the son of Charles and Carrie Gilman Walter. He married Celia Smith Dec. 21, 1922. Mr. Walter was employed at Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad Shops as a carman from 1922 to 1953 when he retired. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of Danville, Ill. He moved to Danville in 1922. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Coy of Covington Route 1 and Charles Homer of Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Ferguson of Brownsburgh and Mrs. William (Anna Marie) Loschen of Potomac, Ill.; a brother, Fred G. Walter of Covington Route 1, and 10 grandchildren. He was preeeded in death by a brother, three sisters and two grandsons. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Larry McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Thursday. -– jlr
