Mrs. Celia Walter, 78, of Covington Route 2, died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 1979 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville.
Mrs. Walter, who had lived in rural Covington for 23 years, was formerly a Danville Route 3 resident. She attended the New Century Church in Veedersburg, where she was a pianist for many years and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Golden Years Senior Citizens.
Born Sept. 10, 1900 in Fountain County, she was a daughter of Charles S. and Eliza Spinks Smith. She married John Clifford Walter, Dec. 21, 1922 in Covington. He died Dec. 9, 1970. Two brothers, two grandchildren and a sister also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Coy of Covington Route 1 and Charles Homer of Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Ferguson of Brownsburg and Mrs. William (Anna Marie) Loschen of Fithian, Ill., Route 1; 10 grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Services were held Friday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Everett White officiated with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. – thanks to S
