WALLACE, Carroll - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Carroll Lester Wallace, 56, serving in his 7th year as mayor of Attica died at 6 a.m. Wednesday following a heart attack.  Mayor Wallace became ill at 1 p.m. Tuesday.  He was born at Yeddo, Ind May 24, 1898 son of Lester and Susan Fewery Wallace.  He married Nell Harris in July 1919 and she survives. Mayor Wallace, during his administration was credited with promoting community projects for the benefit of the children.  He was a member of the Attica Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and American Legion.  He was in the grocery business in Attica several years and had been employed the past six years in the office of Harrison Steel Casting Co. Surviving with his wife are a son, Robert of Attica; a daughter, Joanne of San Bernadino, Calif and a sister, Mrs. Effie Orvis of Danville, Ill.  Funeral arrangement are incomplete pending the arrival of the daughter from California. – kbz
