Eli Walker, one of the oldest residents of Wabash township, died Saturday morning, Feb. 16, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Yerkes, in the above township, aged 83 years, 8 months and 22 days. He was born in Pennsylvania May 24th, 1823, and came to this county in an early day, settling in Wabash township, where he and his good wife, who survives him, reared their family of three sons and three daughters, all known in this communty and grown to maturity. A few years ago they sold their Fountain county farm and went to Kansas, where they resided several years, but returned here later and have since made their home with either Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ramser, children of this city, or Mr. and Mrs. William Yerkes. A few days ago both Mr. and Mrs. Walker were taken very ill with grippe and Mr. Walker passed away from throat complications, as stated above. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Walthal, of this city, were held from the Yerkes residence Monday, interment following in Mt. Hope cemetery, where the remains followed by many friends.
