Mrs. Josephine Wakeland, 75, of 718 Cleveland, Danville, died at 2:15 a. m. today (June 27, 1968) at the Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there two days. Mrs. Wakeland had resided most of her life in the Danville and Grape Creek areas and had been making her home with her daughter and son-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. Jack Wagoner of Hoopeston. Born March 4, 1893, in Grape Creek, she was the daughter of Elwood and Artie Lipscomb. She was married at Danville to Thomas L. Wakeland, who died Nov. 4, 1960. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Artie Lipscomb Stevens of Dolton; her daughter, Mrs. Wanda Wagoner of Hoopeston; two sisters, Mrs. Donnis Hertel of Roachdale, Ind., and Mrs. Thelma Ashby of Dolton; a brother, Andrew Stevens of Danville; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter and three sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston. The Rev. Harris Stuermer will officiate. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery at Danville. The body is at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hoopeston. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. -- typed by Walt W
