Edward B. Waclaw, 69, of Route 1, Covington, died early Wednesday, Jan. 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been ill 9½ years and seriously ill the past four months. A resident of the Covington area 34 years, he was a former resident of the Hegeler community south of Danville. He attended McMillian School and Westville, Ill. High School. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was the owner of Waclaw Body Shop in Covington since 1961 and was an auto body repairman in Danville many years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington and Knights of Columbus 754 of Danville. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in La Salle, Ill., the son of John and Anna Talaga Waclaw. He married Genevieve Paskey Oct. 29, 1938. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Rose Mary) Kendall, Crete, Ill.; a son, John, Route 1, Covington; three sisters, Estelle Lipowsky, Chicago, and Rose Merchen and Mary Jane Schackmann, both of Danville; a brother, Henry, Oswego, Ill. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington. The Rev. William Vath officiated. Entombment was at St. Patrick Mausoleum in Danville. Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. Rosary services were at the funeral home Thursday at 8 p.m.
