SMITHSON, Frederick C
THREE GREAT ladies and wonderful genealogists saved many old obituaries and put them into a binder – they let me use them for the GenWeb page – thanks so much to Fauniel Hershberger; Claudine Yerkes and Betty Dotson (my adopted 2nd mom – loved that lady) – these were mostly mid 1940s deaths but no dates or newspapers are noted.
Funeral services were held at the Spencer Funeral Home Monday afternoon for Dr. Frederick C. Smithson, 54, former chemistry professor in Wabash College who died at his home in Alburquerque, NM. A native of London, England, Dr. Smithson came to this country when 13 years old. He was graduated from Rossville, Ill HS and later attended Illinois Wesleyan University from which he was graduated with his BA Degree. Dr. Smithson taught in Wabash for 77 years and in 1934 he was married to Miss Glee Rennick of Kingman who was teaching in the Crawfordsville schools at that time. They later moved to Alburquerque where recently he had been chemistry instructor in the Socorro School of Mines near there. – kbz
