SMITH, William Dale - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

William Dale Smith of Danville, Illinois, age 76, died Saturday afternoon, January 16, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville. He was born in Gessie, March 12, 1905, the son of George A. and Lora Belle McLaughlin Smith. He married Lacey Marie Woods, who died in 1967. Smith was a blacksmith in the Rileysburg area before moving to Danville, where he was a painter and carpenter. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

  Survivors include four daughters, Delores York of Veedersburg, Wilma Ponder of Pinellas Park, Florida, Jean Weidenburner of Danville and Lola Rosnett of Pueblo, Colorado; a son, Norman Dale of Danville; five sisters, Vera Crisp of Perrysville, Mazie Judson of Indianapolis, Ona Cookeridge of Lansing, Grace Patton of Foster and Edith Summers of Veedersburg; two brothers, Guy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Glen of West Lebanon; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Tuesday evening at Pape Memorial Home in Danville with Rev. James Paradisi officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery at Rileysburg. – thanks so much to “S”
