Scott Smith, 56, Veedersburg, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital In Danville Wednesday night May 15th.

He became seriously ill a few hours before entering the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

He was the son of Thomas and Ada Scherer Smith, both June 20, 1889 in Veedersburg and has spent most of his entire life time in that community.  He was a member of the Charles Forrest American Legion Post in Veedersburg.

Mr. Smith recently served a term of three years on the City School Board and was interested in community betterment.

He was married to Edna Reed in June 1935 who survives.  He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Smith Cheak of Attica by a former marriage, one step daughter, Mrs. Mildred Hancock, Veedersburg; two step
grandsons, Larry Stream and Roger Reed.  A step son Ralph Reed was Killed In Action in Germany in February 1945.

He was employed as a foreman at the Veedersburg Brick Plant, a position he had held for some time.

Services will be held at the Sterling Christian Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Charles Howard and Fishero & Son in charge. Burial will be made in Rockfield Cemetery. The American Legion
will assist in services.
