ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) – Roy Kenneth Smith, 54, of Kramer, was killed at 12:45 p.m. yesterday (Dec. 26, 1969) while replacing universal joints in an auto at his garage in his home. The auto rolled off the ramp and crushed his chest. Warren County Sheriff Wayne Haddock and Warren County Coroner M. L. Windnagel investigated the accident. Mr. Smith was custodian at Seeger Memorial High at West Lebanon. Born July 6, 1915, in the Bethel area of Fountain County, he was the son of Jake and Florence Stetler Smith. He married Lucille Lilly on Sept. 22, 1934 at Williamsport. She survives. He had attended school in Newtown and was employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica for 26 years. He was also employed at Purdue University for three years. A member of the Attica Nazarene Church, he had been treasurer there four years. Surviving besides the wife are his mother, Mrs. Florence Kirts of Attica; four daughters, Mrs. Marshall (Jane) Osborn of Mellott, Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Jacks of Kramer. Mrs. Jack (Gloria) Jacks of Lancaster, Calif., and Mrs. Phillip (Toby) Neal of Lafayette; four sons, Roy Jr. of Portland, Ore., James of Covington, Robert, at home, and Kenneth, serving in Vietnam; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Bessie) Green of Farmland; Mrs. Charles (Ruth Ann) Dobbles of DeSoto and Mrs. Kenneth (Laveda) Kerr of Lafayette; five brothers, Everett of Independence, George and Clifford of Lafayette, Vernie of Fort Wayne, and Don of Seattle, Wash., three half-brothers, Russell and William Kirts of Lafayette and Lloyd Kirts of Knox; three half- sisters, Mrs. Grace Anna Batta, Mrs. Luella Rusk and Mrs. Pearl Kingan, all of Lafayette, and ten grandchildren. Services are pending at the DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica. – jlr
