SMITH, Robert 1967 - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Covington – Robert A. Smith, age 88 of Danville, Ill, father of Lorimer Smith of Covington died at 8 p.m. Thursday Nov 23 at the Vermillion Nursing Home in Danville where he had been a patient one year.  He had been bedfast the past two months and in failing health nine years.  He was born in Covington on Jan 15, 1879, the son of John Matthew and Martha Jane Norris Smith.  His schooling was in Covington and Fountain County.  On Oct 27, 1908, he was married in Covington to Margaret Clem, who preceded him in death July 9, 1913. Survivors include: two sons, Lorimer Smith of Covington and Robert H. Smith of Albion, Pa; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Arzola) Payton of Bismarck, Ill; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Fairhall of Danville. A son preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pape Memorial Home in Danville. The Rev. Eldon O Gourley officiate3d and burial wa sin Upper Mound Cemetery just west of Covington. – kbz
