Mrs. Pearl M. Smith age 82, of Newport, mother of Mrs. Naomi Dunivan of Veedersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 1, in Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been ill several years.
Mrs. Smith was born in Clinton Feb. 8, 1884, the daughter of Enoch and Mary Good Capps. She was married to John F. Pollard in 1903, and he died in 1942. She later was married to Jacob Smithe, who died in 1950.
Survivors include: three sons, Herschel C. Pollard of Dana, Ernest I. Pollard of Champaign Ill., and John Pollard of Kingman Rt.; five daughters, Mrs, Dunivan of Veedersburg, Mrs. Nina M. Milam of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Geneva Stein of Newport, Mrs. M. Madeline Ellis of South Bend, and Mrs, L. Jean Wingfield of Richland, Wash.; 31 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Friends Church in Newport. The Rev. Clarence Ozier and the Rev. Helen Hester officiated. Burial was in Thomas Cemetery, Newport.
