Mrs. Minnie Smith, 88, one of Kingman’s oldest residents died at her home in Kingman at 7:45 p.m. Friday Feb 4, 1955.  She had been in failing health for several weeks.  Mrs. Smith was born in Parke County, Ind Oct 2, 1866 daughter of William and Martha Doss Mitchell and was married to Albert Smith, who died July 2, 1925.  Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Hallie Edmonds of Rockville, Mrs. Myrtle Hess of Shepardsville, Ind, Mrs. Edith Hughes of Detroit, Mich, Mrs. Lula Frazier of Kingman and Mrs. Ruby Barker of Cates; one son, Ival at home; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; a brother, Willie Mitchell of Hoopeston; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Zackmire of California and Mrs. Jessie Holland of Grange Corner, Ind. She was preceded in death by the husband and a brother. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman with burial in Phanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Wallace. – kbz
