Mrs. Maude Spinning Smith, age 81, sister of three Covington residents, died suddenly at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at her home at 801 N. W. 46th St., Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Smith was born May 24, 1881 in Covington, the daughter of Challen W. and Hortense Adamson Spinning. She graduated from Covington High School in 1899, attended DePauw University in Greencastle, and graduated from Kansas University in 1903. She had been a resident of Oklahoma City for more than 60 years. She was married in September, 1903, to Roland V. Smith, who preceded her in death in February, 1952. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Philamatha Study Club of Oklahoma City. Surviving Mrs. Smith are: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Reeves and Mrs. Betty Weir, both of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Nina Spinning and Miss Lura Spinning, and one brother, John A. Spinning, all of Covington. Funeral services will be held at the Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City with burial in the Fairlawn Cemetery there. Misses Nina and Luna Spinning left Covington today, April 10, to attend the services which probably will be held on Friday. --typed by Walt W
