ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) -- Mathew Leroy Smith, 60, of Kirklin Route 4, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 30, 1974) at his residence. He had been ill for several years. Born March 26, 1913, in Attica, he was the son of Peter D. and Helen Francis Culhane Smith. He had resided in the Attica-Williamsport area most of his life and had been a resident of Kirklin about 10 years. He first married Marjorie Redman. Later, he married Othelia Strickler. His third wife, Mrs. Opal Roderick Smith, survives. Mr.. Smith attended Attica schools. He had been a grinder at Harrison Steel Casting Co. for several years. He also worked with the state highway department and farmed at New Richmond. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Attica. Survivors include a son, William Leroy Smith of Williamsport, Chelsea of Attica; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ingalsbee of Attica; four brothers, Charles of Attica, Paul of West Lebanon and Donald of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Vestal of Hammond and Mrs. Donald Livengood of Attica; and seven grandchildren. A grandson, Richard Mathew Smith, preceded him in death. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today at the Russell-Hitch Funeral Home at Lebanon. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Homer Hunsinger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lebanon. The Dale Maus Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.   --typed by Walt W
