SMITH, Mary E. Blessing

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Smith, age 70, of Crawfordsville, a former resident of Covington and Veedersburg, who died at 7:53 p.m. Thursday, April 7, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bright Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.  The Rev. John R. Servies officiated and burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, who died in Culver Hospital, was a native of Benton County. She was born Aug. 14, 1895, the daughter of Elmer M. and Mary E. Maloney Blessing.  She married Norman Smith Jan. 21, 1919, at Brownsburg. They lived there and at Pittsboro, Lizton, Covington and Veedersburg before moving to Crawfordsville in August of 1937.  Mr. Smith, a retired railroader, was employed 43 years with the New York Central.
Surviving, in addition to the husband, are: three sons, Russell L. and Merle W., both of Crawfordsville and Norman R. of Dubuque, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. John R. McConnell of Old Saybrook, Conn.; five brothers, Leo of Danville, Ind:, Raymond and Paul of Crawfordsville, George of Fowler and John E. of Anderson; one sister, Mrs. Foster Servies of New Market, and nine grandchildren.
