SMITH, Martha M. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Martha M. Smith of Attica, age 82, died Monday evening, July 12, at Americana Healthcare Center in Lafayette. She was born at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, May 13, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carter. In 1927, she married Thomas Calvin Smith, who died May 27, 1955. Mrs. Smith attended the Free Methodist church and was a member of the Friendship Club and Senior Citizens. She worked for a time as a cook at the former Ryans Restaurant.

  Surviving are three daughters, Roxie Newton of Biloxi, Mississippi, Bessie Dispenette and Eleanor Renfrow, both of Lafayette; three sons, Buddy Smith, Robert L. Smith of RR 4, Attica, and Jackie Smith of Lafayette; 30 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at Maus Chapel in Attica with Rev. Oscar C. Jones officiating. Burial was in McCabe Cemetery at rural Williamsport. – thanks so much to “S”
