Hudson, Fla – Louis W. Smith, 79, Hudson, Fla died Monday Sept 29, 1997 at his home.  He was born June 1, 1918 in Crawfordsville, the son of Bernard and Pearl Smith Smith.  He married Delores June Myers Smith in 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives. He served 18 years in the Army, serving in WWII and retiring with the rank of major. He had resided in Hudson since 1981, he formerly resided in Lafayette.  He graduated, received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and science and a master of science degree in education administration both from Purdue University. He was a retired school teacher and principal at South newton HS, Kentland after 12 years. He also had taught at Richland Township, Fountain County for several years and North White HS, Monond for one year.  He had taught for a total of 40 years. Surviving besides the wife are his mother of Crawfordsville; two sons, Terry Lee Smith, Lafayette; Brian Smith, Fowler; a brother, Joe Smith, Crawfordsville; two sisters, Hazel Foxworthy, Crawfordsville; Judy Jones, Calumet City and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father. Memorial services are pending at this time. Waynetown – A memorial service for Louis W. Smith, 79, formerly of Lafayette who died Sept 29, 1997 in Hudson Fla will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Newtown Community Church with Rev. John Like and Rev. Joe Hutson officiating. Following the memorial service there will be an 11:30 a.m. graveside committal service for the burial of the ashes in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  He had been a teacher in the Richland Township, Fountain County school district and the North White school district and retired as the principal of South Newton HS.  Surviving are his mother, Pearl Smith, Crawfordsville; his wife, Delores J. Smith, Hudson, Fla; two sons, Terry Lee Smith, Lafayette; Brian Smith, Fowler; a brother, Joe Smith, Crawfordsville; two sisters, Hazel Foxworthy, Crawfordsville; Judy Jones, Calumet and four grandchildren.
