COVINGTON — Lorimer Dean Smith, 92, Covington, died at 9:34 p.m. July 7, 1999 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He was born July 14, 1906 in Danville, Ill., the son of Robert Abraham and Margaret Clem Smith. He married Nelle Kenlay in 1930. She preceded him in death Feb. 14, 1991. He was a resident of Danville until 1966 when he relocated to the Foster area. He had been employed by Ford Motor Co. and Coca Cola in early years and was the 7-Up distributor in Danville for 37 years, retiring in 1968. He was then employed by Glass Specialty Co. in public relations until 1991. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Olive Branch Lodge 38 A F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Danville. Survivors include: niece, Kay (John) Ronchetto, Bismarck, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Ruth (Warren) Biller, Dunnellon, Fla. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, and a sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville, Ill. – jlr
