Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

COVINGTON, Ind. — Mrs. Lista Smith, 89, life-time resident of the area, died at 8 a.m. yesterday (April 4, 1970) at her home, 1023 Third Street. She had been in ill health three year and seriously ill six months. Born July 17, 1880, in Illinois, she was a daughter of Arlandus and Emma Bonnett Van Hook. She was married to David C. Smith in 1898. He preceded her in death in 1952. Survivors include two sons, Fred of Covington, and Charles of Danville, Ill.; five daughters, Mrs. Estella (Susie) Meade of Covington, Mrs. Grace Morris of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Florence Saker of Griffith, Mrs. Flossie Stout of Hammond and Mrs. Virgie Conner of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kern and Mrs. Pearl Jacout of Pacomia, Calif.; a brother, Jess Van Hook of Covington, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two sons. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. (EST) Monday at the Hegg Funeral Home here with the Rev. James Downey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday.   --typed by Walt W
