THREE GREAT ladies and wonderful genealogists saved many old obituaries and put them into a binder – they let me use them for the GenWeb page – thanks so much to Fauniel Hershberger; Claudine Yerkes and Betty Dotson (my adopted 2nd mom – loved that lady) – these were mostly mid 1940s deaths but no dates or newspapers are noted.
Yeddo – A resident of the community most of her life, Mrs. Julia Ann Smith, 74 died at 8 a.m. Sunday at her home. She had suffered a stroke Feb 15. Born March 1, 1869 in Parke County, she was the daughter of Roboam and Malvina Keller. On Jan 14, 1887, she was married to William Smith. Surviving her are three children, Leslie Smith of Indianapolis, Ray Smith of near Yeddo and Mrs, Ada Atkinson in Yeddo with whom she made her home. Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Centennial United Brethren Church with the Rev. Ralph Becor officiating. Burial will be in adjoining cemetery; Spencer Undertakers of Kingman in charge. – kbz (last is verbatim but doesn’t make a lot of sense) Dated: May 1943.
