Mrs. Grace E. Smith, 65, was dead on arrival at 1:15 p.m. yesterday (March 13, 1969) at Lake View Memorial where she was taken from the Colonial Manor Nursing Home where she had been a patient since Jan. 9. She had been in ill health several years. Coroner Don Goodwin attributed death to natural causes. She had formerly lived on Danville Route 4 for 40 years and before entering the nursing home had made her home with a son, John H. Smith of 116 W. Lake Boulevard. Born April 24, 1903, in Marietta, Ohio, she was a daughter of Jonce and Lottie Mae Amos. She had lived in the Danville area 60 years and she attended Danville schools. She was married May 8, 1920 in Dovington, Ind., to Mark Leonard Smith, who preceded her in death April 3, 1953. Surviving besides the son are four daughters, Mrs. Verna McCullough and Mrs. Eloise Beaulier, both of Danville, Mrs. Barbara Jean Grifo of Wooster, Ohio, and Mrs. Carol Ann Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; a half-sister, Mrs. Delia Beck of Brooklyn, Mich., and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons and two daughters. Mrs. Smith was a member of the South Side Church of Christ. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pape Memorial Home. Floyd Herron will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Mound Cemetery near Covington. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. – jlr
