Gerry D. Smith, 25, of 1406 Lape, Danville, was found dead about 11 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 21, 1973) at his residence. He apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Danville police.
  A coroner’s inquest is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Vermillion County Courthouse. Mr. Smith was born Dec. 16, 1947, in Veedersburg, Ind., son of Joe and Sina Booe Smith Jr. He married Paula Howard Aug. 27, 1967, in Danville, and she survives. He was employed at Bohn Aluminum.
  He attended Veedersburg schools and graduated from Fountain Central High School. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith Sr. of Hillsboro, Ind.; two sons, Jeffrey and Gerry Lee, both at home; three brothers, Joe of Bismark, Ill., and Russell and Randy, both of Hillsboro, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Grimes of Wingate, Ind. and Miss Sherry Smith of Covington, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barrick and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Jacobs will officiate.
  Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. – thanks so very very much to “S”
