VEEDERSBURG, Ind. –
Mrs. Flossie Iras Smith, 75, of Veedersburg Route 1, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday
at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, where she had been a patient 11 hours.
Mrs. Smith had been in ill health the past year. She was an Indiana resident
all her life, having lived in Warren, Vermillion and Foun-Perrysville school.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the New Century Ladies Aid. The daughter of Charles
and Jane Miller Black, she was born Aug. 18, 1892 in Warren County. On Feb. 19,
1916, she was married to George J. Smith. Survivors besides the husband include
three daughters, Mrs. Mary Alice Snyder, Danville, Ill., Mrs. June Esther
First, Touson, Ariz., and Mrs. Florence Hunt, Vincinnes, Ind.; two sons,
Richard H. Smith, Crawfordsville, and George J. Smith Jr., Hillsboro; 14
grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Jenson,
Perrysville Route 1, and a brother, Mack Black, Covington, Route 3. Three
brothers preceded her in death. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral
Home in Covington where friends will be received Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Services will be at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs
will officiate, with burial in Lower Mound Cemetery west of Covington. – jlr
