Mrs. Evelyn Gebhart Smith, about 58, a former resident of Hillsboro, died Friday morning at a hospital in Quincy, Ill, where she was admitted after suffering a stroke of paralysis.  Mrs. Smith's home at the time of her death was Stillwell, Ill.
Born near Mellott, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wade. She was twice married, first to Oscar Gebhart, who died and later Glen Smith, who survives.   --- transcribed by kbz - thanks to Betty D.

						Mrs. Evelyn Gebhart Smith, a former resident of Hillsboro,
						died at a hospital in Quincy, Ill Thursday night of last week after a
						few days illness. On December 13 she suffered a stroke of paralysis
						and never regained consciousness. She resided at Stillwell, Ill at the
						time of her death.
						
						The body was brought to Hillsboro last Saturday and funeral
						service held in the Hillsboro Christian Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Arthur
						Howell in charge.  Mrs. Carol Myers and Mrs. Maxine Bever
						accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Zula Ingersoll sang, Beyond the Sunset and Sunrise.
						The pall bearers were: Harry Allen; Hyson J. Myer; Carl Leighty;
						Maurice H. Williams; Warren Graves of Hillsboro and Scott Palin of
						Mellott. Flower bearers were Nellie Eitnier, ALice Nine, Josephine Akin,
						Ethel Foxworthy, Carrie Tinsley and Nora Reynolds. Burial was in
						Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillslboro.
						
						Mrs. Smith was the daughter  of Frank and Rhoda Cecil
						Wade and was born in the Antioch neighborhood near Hillsboro in May 1899 (sic
						9 May 1889).  She was married to Oscar Gebhart, who preceded
						her in death in 1935.  One daughter Miss Edna Lee Gebhart preceded her
						in death in 1929.  In 1937 she was married to Glen Smith, who
						survives, with one son, Robert Gebhart by a former marriage; two step sons and
						two
						
						stepgrandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Nora
						Berry of LaGarita, Colorado; Mrs. Gertie Anderson of Inyokerin,
						California and one brother, Bert Wade of Cheraw, Colorado.
						
						She was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and Fern
						Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was past worthy matron.   --- kbz
